Job Role: Senior Group Finance Manager
Compensation range: $4,000 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: They are a property group made up of two businesses. One business provides property and construction advisory services, supporting clients across areas such as acquisitions, development, capital, and project management. The other business focuses on property development and works with investors who co-invest in their projects. The group has a small, close-knit team and works across a range of property sectors and development projects.
Role Overview: The Senior Group Finance Manager will oversee both the strategic and operational finance functions across two related property businesses. This is a hands-on Business Partner role, reporting to senior management and covering areas such as P&L and cashflow forecasting, business cases, capital investment forecasting, balance sheet forecasting, bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, investor and financier drawdowns, and bank reconciliations. A key focus of the role is using technology and automation to build a more efficient and scalable finance function, with minimal manual data entry. Working closely with senior management, operations and project teams, investors, lenders, and external advisors, the Senior Group Finance Manager will help drive financial discipline, profitability, risk management, and investment performance across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Partnering & Leadership
Act as the key finance lead across both businesses.
Partner with the Managing Director and project teams on strategic and
commercial decisions.
Support funding, investor reporting and lender requirements.
Manage relationships with accountants, auditors, banks and external advisors.
Build a scalable and efficient finance function that supports business growth.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow
Prepare annual budgets and regular financial forecasts.
Monitor business and project performance against budget.
Manage company and project cash flow forecasting.
Chase Accounts Receivable to reduce Day Sales Outstanding,
Monitor working capital and ensure sufficient funding is available for operations and projects.
Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management.
Property Development & Project Finance
Support property development projects from acquisition through to completion.
Prepare and maintain project feasibility models and financial assessments.
Monitor project costs, commitments and profitability.
Work closely with Development Managers and Project Managers to ensure projects achieve financial targets.
Provide financial reporting on project performance and investment returns.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
Prepare and lodge BAS, PAYG, payroll tax and other statutory obligations (which our Australian Accountant checks and lodges)
Support annual audits and tax compliance requirements.
Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and financial policies.
Technology & Process Improvement
Use technology and automation to improve bookkeeping and finance processes.
Implement and maintain finance systems and reporting tools.
Reduce manual processing through automation and digital workflows.
Develop dashboards and reports to improve business visibility and decision making.
Drive continuous improvement across finance operations.
Bookkeeping & Financial Administration
Implement AI and latest technologies to automate the book-keeping function.
Using AI and the latest technologies:
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities across two business groups and related Property development projects.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Manage bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Ensure transactions are accurately coded and allocated across projects and entities.
Manage payroll processing, superannuation and employee expense claims.
Systems & Software Utilised:
Xero – general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, BAS, reporting, and cash flow management.
Reach Reporting – Financial Forecasting & Reporting including Corporate Consolidations
UniPhi – project controls, forecasting, budgeting, workflow management, and reporting.
Total Synergy – proactive management, invoicing, , resource planning, timesheets, WIP, and project profitability.
Microsoft Excel (advanced financial analysis and modelling)
Microsoft 365 including SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook
Banking, expense management, and document management systems

Month-end reporting completed within agreed timeframes.
Financial records maintained accurately and audit-ready.
Cash flow forecasts updated regularly.
Effective use of Systems, including AI / OCR Bookkeeping system.
Continuous improvement and automation of finance processes.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years' experience in finance roles in Australian companies.
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related discipline.
CPA, CA or equivalent professional qualification.
Ideally, experience in property development and management, real estate, construction, and/or similar relevant industries.
Experience managing debt facilities, bank drawdowns, investor drawdowns and project cashflows.
Strong understanding of Australian taxation, accounting standards and corporate governance requirements.
