What Scout is

Scout searches for open roles that match the standards you give it, reads what it finds, and brings back a short list with its reasoning. Using Scout means agreeing to what is written here.

Scout is a search tool, not an employment agency, a recruiter, or a career advisor. It does not represent you to employers, does not apply on your behalf without your say-so, and cannot promise you interviews or a job.

Your account

An account is for one person, and one person gets one account. Do not share your sign-in, and do not run Scout on someone else's behalf without telling them what it holds. Keep your credentials to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.

Give Scout accurate information about yourself. A resume that isn't yours produces matches that aren't yours.

Credits, trial and on-demand

New accounts get one bank of free trial credits. One trial per person: opening additional accounts, or using email aliases or variations of the same address, to claim another trial is not allowed, and Scout may withhold trial credits or close accounts that do it.

Daily credits reset at local midnight after Scout learns your time zone. Before that, they reset at midnight Eastern Standard Time. The daily ceiling stops runaway jobs from spending more than a day's worth.

On-demand usage is off until you turn it on. When enabled, credits used beyond your included daily amount accrue at the published rate and are invoiced to your payment method on file. Your monthly limit caps that accrual; you can change or disable it at any time, and it applies from the moment you save it. You authorize those charges by enabling on-demand usage.

If Scout charges you for a search that fails through its own fault, tell us and it goes back on your balance.

Payment

Payments are processed by a merchant of record, which handles the transaction and any tax that applies. Prices are shown before you pay. Card details never reach Scout.

Discount codes apply only where offered, one per account, and may be withdrawn for new redemptions at any time; a code already applied to your subscription keeps its terms. Because credit is consumed as it is used, charges are final once credits have been spent against them. If you were invoiced in error, email support within 14 days.

What you can and cannot do with it

Results are for your own job search. Do not resell them, republish them as a job board, scrape Scout in bulk, or feed its output into a competing product.

Do not use Scout to harass anyone, to misrepresent who you are to an employer, or for anything illegal. Do not create multiple accounts to collect trial credits or discount codes.

Scout may pause or close an account that does these things. If it does, unused paid credit is refunded.

Your content

Your resume, notes and preferences stay yours. You give Scout permission to store and process them for the sole purpose of running your searches and showing you results, as described in the privacy policy. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

What Scout does not promise

Job postings come from employers and public sources. Scout reads them as carefully as it can, but it cannot guarantee a listing is current, accurate, or real, and it can be wrong about whether a role fits you. Check anything that matters before acting on it.

Scout is provided as it is. It may be unavailable, and features may change. To the fullest extent the law allows, Scout is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including a job you did not get. Any liability it does have is limited to what you paid Scout in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here removes rights you have that cannot be waived where you live.

Ending it

You can stop using Scout and delete your account at any time. Scout may close an account that breaks these terms, or discontinue the service with reasonable notice and a refund of unused paid credit.

Changes

If these terms change materially, account holders get an email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Scout after that means accepting the new version.
