Job Title
Software Development Engineer Specialist ** ALL CVs MUST BE SUBMITTED IN ENGLISH**
About the Business Area/Department:
You will join the Amadeus Business Rules (ABR) team, part of the Business Automation portfolio within Amadeus' Configuration Platform. ABR is Amadeus' central rule engine and rule-management framework. It keeps business logic separate from application code, so travel applications and airlines can change business behavior and policies at runtime without new code deployments.
ABR runs at large scale and is critical to the business. It powers more than 200 Amadeus applications, evaluates around 5 million business rules, and handles over 1 million transactions per second with evaluation latency of about 100 microseconds.
The team covers the full engineering lifecycle:
Development and modernization: We evolve the platform through work like Forge migration, REST API enablement, cache scalability, and retiring legacy integrations.
Tooling: We build and maintain the tools people use to design, view, and manage rules, including Rule Type Designer, ABR Viewer, the web and Java UIs, and batch and automation utilities.
Integration: We provide the ABR Client, REST/JSON and EDIFACT APIs that application servers and microservices use to evaluate rules.
Operations and quality: We run QA, change control (CCB). We also invest in observability and AI-driven operational insights.
Summary of the role:
As a Senior Software Development Engineer in the Amadeus Business Rules (ABR) team, you will design, build, and evolve key parts of a high-performance rule engine. You will work independently with little supervision, own the technical solution from design to production, and be a technical reference for the team.
You will take on complex technical problems in areas such as performance, scalability, and platform modernization. You will manage dependencies and risks across teams, and you may lead a working group on initiatives with several workstreams. You will influence technical decisions inside and outside the team and mentor other engineers. You will also promote good engineering practices such as test-driven development, code quality, and operational excellence.
In this role you’ll:
Design and build large parts of the ABR platform: the C++ rule engine, the ABR Client, REST/JSON and EDIFACT APIs, and the rule management tools.
Own technical solutions from start to finish, from analysis and design to implementation, testing, and production. You'll work with a high level of autonomy.
Solve complex technical problems related to performance, low latency, scalability, and caching, on a platform that handles more than a million transactions per second.
Lead modernization work such as the Forge migration, REST API enablement, and retiring legacy integrations, while managing dependencies and risks across teams.
Keep production reliable and compliant by working with QA, change control (CCB), and on-call support, and by finding and fixing the root causes of incidents.
Improve observability and operational efficiency with better monitoring, automation, and AI-driven insights.
Work with application teams, architects, and product stakeholders to turn business needs into sound technical designs.
Influence technical decisions inside and outside the team, and help shape the platform's architecture and roadmap.
Mentor and coach other engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and good engineering practices such as TDD, clean code, and CI/CD.
Lead working groups on projects with several workstreams when needed.
About the ideal candidate:
You're an experienced software engineer who enjoys solving hard technical problems and takes ownership of what you build. You're comfortable working on your own on complex, business-critical systems, and you care about quality, performance, and reliability in production.
Technical skills:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related field, or equivalent…
