Job Description
Engineering Technical Services within the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering seeks a Solutions Developer Senior to design and deliver technology-driven solutions that improve the way our schools operate.
This role is both consultant and builder: independently clarifying operational needs, evaluating technical approaches, and delivering practical software, integrations, and automations from requirements through verified operation. The position works with staff, administrators, and ETS colleagues to resolve complex workflow and integration problems, explain technical tradeoffs, and deliver secure, maintainable solutions. Low-code platforms and AI-assisted development are used where appropriate.
Position Salary Range:
$78,000 - $97,450 per year, DOE
Essential Duties:
Partner with administrative and operational stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve missing or conflicting information, and define feasible technical solutions and acceptance criteria aligned with FSE and ETS priorities.
Independently select and implement technical approaches, evaluating integration dependencies, security, reliability, and maintainability. Own delivery from requirements through testing, deployment, and verified operation within agreed timelines.
Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, explaining technical options and tradeoffs and guiding implementation decisions. Communicate risks and blockers early and accurately report progress and operational status.
Consult with departments and functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains, guiding them toward sustainable, technology-enabled solutions.
Design, implement, and support system integrations and automated workflows with reliable unattended operation, appropriate security, error handling, and monitoring. Independently diagnose complex failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective changes that reduce recurrence.
Document requirements, solution designs, testing results, and operating instructions in clear, consistent formats to support adoption, maintenance, and knowledge sharing.
Evaluate emerging technologies, AI capabilities, and automation tools. Validate AI-generated code and information and remain responsible for solution correctness, security, and maintainability.
Develop and support solutions within ETS’s existing ColdFusion environment and other approved web, integration, and automation platforms.
Desired Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience independently designing, deploying, and supporting operational software, integrations, or automations involving ambiguous requirements or complex technical dependencies.
Demonstrated ability to translate stakeholder needs into functional solutions using requirements gathering, workflow analysis, or similar techniques.
Demonstrated proficiency in software development, API and database integration, and automation platforms or low-code tools, including resolving complex technical dependencies.
Demonstrated proficiency in Python, server-side web development, APIs, relational databases, and application troubleshooting. Experience with ColdFusion, LAMP environments, and Power Automate preferred.
