Job Title: AVEVA Process Simulation - Domain QA Engineer
Location: Hyderabad, India
Employment Type: full-time, hybrid work arrangement
The job
AVEVA Process Simulation (APS) is an integrated platform for engineers and operators to innovate across the entire process life cycle—design, simulation, training, and operations. As an APS – Domain QA Engineer, you will use your Chemical Engineering and process simulation expertise to ensure APS capabilities meet expected process behavior, are reliable for customers, and maintain high quality across releases. You will contribute from a domain perspective during feature grooming, testing, validation, and customer issue triage.
Key responsibilities
Ensure quality of delivered features in AVEVA Process Simulation through domain-driven test planning, execution, and validation
Contribute to feature grooming from a domain perspective (review requirements, identify risks/edge cases, propose acceptance criteria and test scenarios)
Design, execute, and maintain test suites (regression, functional, domain validation) to ensure both new and existing features continue to work as expected
Validate simulation results against expected physical behavior, engineering heuristics, and benchmark/reference cases where applicable
Collaborate with developers and stakeholders (product, domain experts, and support) to deliver quality software within planned timelines
Interact with customers / primary support to address queries and concerns related to APS
Continuously improve QA effectiveness by enhancing coverage, identifying gaps in existing suites, and recommending improvements to test strategy and documentation
Location: Hyderabad, India
Essential requirements

BE/B.Tech (or higher) in Chemical Engineering is required
Coursework in Modelling and Simulation is preferred
Experience
3+ years of relevant experience in domain QA, process engineering validation, simulation workflows, or testing/validation of engineering software
Experience in process design is preferred; Refining / Oil & Gas background is a strong plus
Chemical Engineering & Process Simulation Knowledge
Strong fundamentals in Chemical Engineering principles
Good understanding of process equipment and unit operations (design intent and operating behavior)
Working knowledge of simulation tools such as HYSYS, Aspen Plus, PRO/II (APS exposure is a plus)
Proficiency in mathematical modelling and interpreting simulation outputs logically
Testing / QA mindset (domain-driven)
Experience in testing simulation software or validating simulation models/features is an added advantage
Ability to create structured test scenarios, cover edge cases, and maintain regression suites over time
Programming & Software Development Skills (Automation)
Ability to write scripts for test automation and productivity tooling (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Typescript or C#)

Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development practices (code reviews, branching)
Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts and how automated test suites are integrated into build/release pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar)
Comfortable debugging automation failures (environment issues, flaky tests, dependency/configuration problems) and improving reliability
Problem-solving & communication
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills (identify what changed, isolate conditions, articulate repro steps clearly)
Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and customer/support interactions
