Beach Baker is working with a leading multi-disciplinary property consultancy looking to appoint an experienced Senior Planner to join its Professional Services team in Dorset.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded planner who enjoys working directly with clients and wants to take greater ownership of projects. You will work across a varied portfolio of residential, agricultural and commercial developments throughout the Wessex region, supporting projects from their earliest feasibility stages through to securing consent and discharging planning conditions.
The Role
As Senior Planner, you will take responsibility for your own projects while working closely with clients, internal property teams and external consultants.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing initial feasibility advice and preparing planning appraisals
Developing planning strategies and managing pre-application enquiries
Preparing Planning Statements, Design & Access Statements and supporting documentation
Preparing, submitting and managing a variety of planning applications
Managing Listed Building Consent applications
Acting as project lead and coordinating external consultants and internal departments
Advising clients on planning conditions, Section 106 agreements, CIL and other planning obligations
Supporting the promotion of development sites
Preparing and managing planning appeals
Building strong, long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients
About You
The successful candidate will ideally be an experienced planner who is confident operating in a client-facing and fee-earning environment.
You should have:
Previous experience within a client-facing planning role
Strong knowledge of planning policy, the NPPF and local and neighbourhood planning matters
The ability to independently manage planning projects and client relationships
Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
MRTPI chartered status
Candidates with 3+ years' post-qualification experience and experience leading more complex planning projects would be particularly well suited to the position.
