Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Staff Electrical Engineer to lead the development, integration, and certification of utility-interactive power conversion systems incorporating medium- and large-scale power electronics, grid-forming/grid-following inverters, and low-voltage power distribution equipment. The engineer will serve as the technical bridge between power electronics, switchgear, controls, protection, compliance, product safety, and other cross functional teams.
The role involves the development of inverter-based energy systems operating at 480 Vac with integrated switchboards rated up to 6000 A, supporting grid-parallel, islanded, and microgrid applications. The candidate will be responsible for detailed system design, electrical architecture, protection schemes, and validation plans while ensuring successful certification to UL, IEEE, NEC, and applicable IEC standards.
The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of power electronics, power systems, switchboard design, grid interconnection requirements, protection coordination, and certification activities associated with commercial and utility-scale inverter systems.
This role will report to Sr. Principal Engineer, Electrical and is based in the San Jose, CA headquarters site.
