At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of engineers and technicians, you will lead avionics hardware/software integration for the MK1 Lunar Lander, spanning flight computers, remote I/O, power distribution, communications, and data networks across multiple MK1 vehicle configurations. You will own system level avionics integration scope from test objectives and test plans through execution, data analysis and closeout, leading campaigns in the Vehicle Test Bed (VTB). This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth!
We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!
Because of the need for hands-on work, this position requires on-site work at Renton, WA.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Own system-level avionics hardware/software integration scope: define test objectives, test plans and performance criteria,
Author VTB test plans and test procedures, and lead their execution from test readiness through data review, test reports, and closeout-
Lead MK1 vehicle sensor integration testing: verify sensor electrical, data, and command interfaces from power-on and channelization through end-to-end data flow into SIL and VTB/HIL
Plan and execute vehicle timing tests, including time synchronization across flight computers and remote units, using simulated time sources and manually spoofed time inputs to verify synchronization, offset detection and correction, and fault response
Measure and demonstrate end-to-end sense-to-act latency, from sensor input through flight computer processing to actuator command, in HIL and the VTB, and verify results against latency budgets
Characterize network utilization, throughput, delay, and jitter across vehicle data networks under nominal and maximum expected load in HIL/VTB
Support development and continuous improvement of the VTB/HIL test infrastructure, including emulators, fault injection, timing and network test tools, and electrical ground support equipment
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, systems engineering, computer science, or related technical degree
4+ years of experience in hardware/software integration and verification of complex avionics or embedded systems
