This role provides specialist technical and learning-support services for the Drama Department while contributing as an integral member of the school-wide AV team. Working under the guidance of teaching staff, the postholder works directly with students in practical learning environments—supporting classroom activities, providing hands-on equipment demonstrations, and mentoring student backstage crews. In addition, the role ensures the smooth technical operation of departmental venues and supports the setup and execution of school-wide productions and community events.

Technical Skills Demonstrations: Facilitate small-group demonstrations and practical skills sessions under teacher direction to build student technical literacy, tool safety, and staging proficiency.
Student Crew Mentorship: Supervise and mentor student technical crews during rehearsals, live performances, and co-curricular projects, guiding them toward safe, independent operation of theatre systems.

2. Drama Department Operations & Technical Administration
Studio & Theatre Preparation: Set up, maintain, and turn over the three Black Box teaching studios and the main theatre for daily lessons, practical assessments, and production rehearsals.
Staging & Technical Support: Provide practical assistance in stagecraft, including scenic carpentry, prop fabrication, safe rigging, and operating theatre software (e.g., QLab, ETC Eos Family, Zero88).
Inventory & Asset Management: Track, inspect, store, and maintain departmental equipment, including lanterns, cables, microphones, costumes, props, and scenic components.
Examination & Portfolio Support: Manage the high-quality recording, editing, and secure digital upload/transfer of practical examination performances and student coursework portfolios.
Departmental Administration: Assist staff with routine administrative tasks, including room and studio bookings, preparation of risk assessments for trips and practical workshops, exam pre-authorisations, and logging assets within school management systems.
Digital Media Support: Assist in recording and assembling digital media, programs, and promotional collateral to document and celebrate Drama and Performing Arts activities.
3. Whole-School AV & Event Execution
Live Event Support: Collaborate with the wider AV technician team to set up, operate, and pack down sound, lighting, and video systems for assemblies, concerts, large productions, and graduation ceremonies.
Streaming & Media Capture: Operate or assist with multi-camera live streaming and recording setups for school events broadcast to the school community.
Staging & Rigging: Safely assemble and dismantle temporary staging, lighting trussing, projection displays, and cabling across indoor and outdoor campus venues.
4. General AV Infrastructure & Staff Support
Display & Studio Maintenance: Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain classroom presentation hardware, including interactive panels and wireless display units (e.g., Apple TV, Vivi).
