Position : Practical Nursing Instructor - Savannah Campus
Savannah Technical College is seeking a 12-month full-time faculty position for the Practical Nursing program on the Savannah Campus. The individual will report to the Department Head for Practical Nursing and will be responsible for program duties at the Savannah campus including teaching evening courses and clinical rotations within Savannah Technical College’s service area.
The Practical Nursing Instructor will be responsible for the following duties:
Develop, manage, and teach classes, delivering instruction both individually and as a member of a team;
Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for practical nursing occupational courses;
Develop and coordinate curriculum; conduct assessments of all courses taught in the department as requested;
Evaluate effectiveness of courses through student data, graduate surveys, and employer surveys;
Develop yearly practical nursing budget;
Complete reports and requests for information from internal and external departments and agencies;
Ensure compliance with Georgia Board of Nursing standards, rules regulations, and expectations;
Complete reports and requests for information from internal and external departments and agencies.
Lead and coordinate practical nursing advisory committee for the department;
Participate in College committees and meetings;
Collaborate with colleagues on common curriculum areas;
Instructing students, developing program syllabi, goals, and objectives;
Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts;
Managing adjunct faculty teaching schedules;
Order and maintain equipment and supplies;
Advise and register health sciences students;
Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences;
Follow policies/procedures of Savannah Technical College, to include standards for student-faculty professional relationships/interaction;
Must adhere to ANA standards of practice;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited, post-secondary institution.
Current, unencumbered Georgia RN License in good standing.
Three (3) years of practice as a licensed registered nurse within the preceding seven (7) years.
Must possess strong clinical skills.
Proficient in the use of MS Office, Word and Excel; Banner proficiency preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must possess valid driver’s license and proof of insurability.
Flexible to teach day or evening classes and 12-hour clinical rotations on weekdays and/or weekends including nights at any clinical facility in the college’s service area.
