Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies company, is a world leader in advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defence industries. With a comprehensive inertial sensing and integrated navigation technology portfolio and deep domain expertise, we deliver cutting-edge systems that solve our customers’ toughest stabilisation, flight control and navigation challenges and help shape the future of aviation and defence.
This is a hybrid role based at our Plymouth site, where we design and manufacture control, navigation, and guidance systems for both air and surface applications. Our world-class products include MEMS-based Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) and the TERPROM® Digital Terrain Reference Navigation System.
Our growth plan includes development and extension of our current technologies into state of the art military and civil aircraft applications and we’re looking for exceptional engineers to join us on that journey.
As a Systems Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing, integrating and validating complex embedded systems. Working across hardware, software and mechanical domains, you’ll contribute to projects from concept through to delivery, taking responsibility for defined engineering activities and independently delivering assigned technical tasks while collaborating with experienced engineers on more complex challenges.
What You Will Do
Your day-to-day will include:
Working with our customers and key stakeholders to understand, analyse and capture system-level use cases, concepts of operations and requirements.
Contributing to the development of system architecture, including requirements decomposition and design activities.
Interfacing with stakeholders across Systems, Software, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and developing requirement specifications for each component of the system, within assigned areas of responsibility.
Supporting system integration for real-time embedded systems, including hardware/software interfaces, taking ownership of defined integration activities.
Ensuring requirement-to-requirement and requirements-to-test traceability for assigned requirements throughout the design.
Developing test cases and procedures against requirements and executing tests, including analysing results and identifying technical issues.
Applying logical and innovative problem-solving across software, hardware and system levels, independently resolving defined technical problems and collaborating with senior engineers on more complex challenges.
Providing inputs to project planning, estimations and progress reporting, including managing progress against assigned technical deliverables.
What You Will Learn
At Collins Aerospace, your career development is as important as our technical innovation. You’ll benefit from:
Exposure to cutting-edge navigation and sensing technologies.
Mentorship and training from industry-leading experts.
Opportunities to work on mission-critical systems used globally.
A supportive environment that encourages continuous learning and career progression.
