(i.e.,) are currently looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Application Support team for one of our enterprise clients. This role is designed to be senior and hands-on: you'll keep our client's applications running, get to the root of what keeps breaking, and drive the fixes that stop it happening again.
Research indicates that certain demographic groups, such as women, may be less inclined to apply for a role unless they meet all the job requirements. If you're interested in this role, we strongly encourage you to apply, as you might be just what we're looking for.
The salary band for this role: $136,000 - $170,000 (Inclusive of Superannuation)
About the opportunity
As a Senior Consultant in our DevOps Application Support discipline, you'll have the opportunity to own the health of the applications our client's digital teams rely on, from pipelines and releases to the incidents that come up along the way. Your primary role is to keep those applications stable and well supported. An important part of your role is also to find where support could be better, before anyone asks, and bring those improvements to the team.
You won't be waiting for tickets. We'll back you to spot the problems, shape the fix, and work with our DevOps lead to decide what comes first.
You will sit within a cross-functional team to support with:
Keeping our client's applications, hosted on Azure, stable and running reliably
Owning incidents from first alert through to root cause, including after hours when a P1 comes in
Supporting the CMS platforms and the .NET Core APIs behind our client's sites
Building and refining NewRelic dashboards, so we see problems before users do
Finding recurring issues, inefficiencies, and friction points, and bringing ideas to fix them
Working with our client and their vendors to sort out problems, including ones that sit outside our team
Working alongside delivery teams to unblock releases and improve how support runs day to day
We value demonstrated experience in two or more of the following areas:
Building software, not just supporting it, so you understand how systems behave once they're live
Application support or DevOps in a live production environment
Microsoft Azure
.NET Core APIs
Next.js, React, and TypeScript, ideally alongside Storybook and Chromatic
Supporting a CMS platform
Bitbucket for source control
NewRelic monitoring
It would also help if you've worked with Sitecore, or used tools like Azure AppInsights, Postman, PagerDuty, or ServiceNow, though we don't expect experience across all of them. Experience in a smaller team, where you found the work yourself, is a plus too.
About You
You're a strong engineer who has built things, and you bring that thinking to keeping them running
You find problems as well as fix them. You notice what keeps breaking and come with a plan for it
You're self-driven and work autonomously, setting priorities with your lead rather than waiting to be told
You're confident with clients and vendors, and you can explain a technical issue so stakeholders come on board
You follow a problem until it's sorted, even when it belongs to another team
You look at the bigger picture, and you can see how a fix in one place affects the rest
You stay steady when priorities shift fast, and a P1 incident will always take priority over planned work
You're happy to be part of an on-call roster (approx 1 week per month) and respond to incidents outside business hours when needed
