What this job involves:
The Senior Facilities Advisor is a transitional and advisory role designed to systematically transfer institutional knowledge and intellectual capital to the leaders assuming long-term accountability for the Southern California portfolio. This six-month assignment primarily supports the Chief Engineer as they expand leadership responsibilities across the SRB/SDG footprint, and the Soft Services Lead as they assume overall Facilities oversight for Southern California. The role is not intended to maintain the existing Senior Facilities Manager operating structure or create parallel accountability; rather, success is measured by the transfer of knowledge and capability that enables the broader team to operate independently once the transition concludes. The Senior Facilities Advisor will document site history, stakeholder context, operating practices, risks, and supplier relationships currently held by the outgoing Senior Facilities Manager, while coaching permanent leaders, facilitating stakeholder continuity, and progressively reducing their own involvement as the future-state organization demonstrates readiness and ownership.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Identify and document critical institutional knowledge related to the Southern California portfolio, including site history, stakeholder expectations, recurring operational requirements, risks, and supplier relationships
Coach the Chief Engineer on stakeholder relationships, site operating requirements, business priorities, facility conditions, and recurring activities as they assume broader leadership across SRB and SDG
Provide the Soft Services Lead with a comprehensive understanding of Southern California site dynamics, team capabilities, financial considerations, and future portfolio considerations
Facilitate thoughtful transition of key business and stakeholder relationships, reinforcing permanent leaders as the future points of accountability
Identify operational, infrastructure, compliance, supplier, financial, and project risks requiring visibility during the transition, and ensure outstanding actions are formally transferred
Maintain a structured transition plan tracking knowledge transferred, documentation completed, relationships transitioned, and remaining gaps
Conduct periodic transition reviews with leadership and complete a final transition summary identifying remaining risks, open actions, and permanent owners
Required qualifications:
Extensive experience in senior facilities management or facilities leadership roles, ideally within a multi-site commercial real estate portfolio
Demonstrated experience coaching or mentoring operational leaders through transitions or succession planning
Strong knowledge of building operations, supplier management, and compliance/risk considerations across a diverse facilities…
