Product Owner | Equity Listed Products | Financial Markets (Fidessa & Horizon)
Lead two squads at the heart of a leading international bank’s Financial Markets division, shaping the technology behind Equity Structured Products and Listed Derivatives/Fixed Income. As Product Owner, you’ll combine market and system knowledge, product management and business expertise to own the roadmap for the Fidessa, Ullink and Horizon application landscape.
You’ll work with Trading, Sales, Risk, Operations, IT and Procurement to shape demand, make prioritisation trade-offs explicit and represent the voice of the business, balancing strategic change, regulatory demand and operational stability.
About the role
You’ll be part of the change delivery organisation for Financial Markets, in an area where squads own the end-to-end delivery and evolution of the technology landscape. Led by a Product Manager, the area translates Financial Markets strategy into executable roadmaps through product-based delivery. As Product Owner, you will:
Own and prioritise the roadmap and backlog for two squads, balancing strategic change, regulatory demand and operational stability
Translate business needs into clear outcomes, requirements and acceptance criteria so the squads can deliver the right solutions
Drive end-to-end improvements in the execution and trade capture flow across systems, squads and stakeholders
Manage vendor and stakeholder governance: change intake, release planning, prioritisation decisions and communication
Safeguard operational stability by turning incidents and risks into preventative backlog items, coordinating change with run/operations
Apply systems thinking and futureproofing, prioritising sustainable solutions that reduce key-person dependencies
Lead two squads of IT DevOps engineers and Customer Journey Experts, running key Agile ceremonies (refinement, sprint planning, reviews) and maintaining a high-quality backlog
Align with neighbouring Product Owners to deliver end-to-end value
Who are you?
Bachelor’s degree
7+ years’ experience in Financial Markets (and/or Treasury), with demonstrated ownership of change delivery in complex stakeholder environments
Proven domain knowledge of cash equities and equity-based structured products and the associated front-to-back flow (from trading/execution through trade capture and downstream processing)
Solid understanding of Financial Markets product flows, with depth in execution and trade capture, including key controls, risk points and operational handoffs
Comfortable in an IT delivery context (DevOps teams), able to understand application capabilities and constraints and make clear trade-offs on scope, time and risk
Proven experience owning prioritisation and making explicit trade-offs between competing demands
Strong stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills in English, able to align senior business and IT stakeholders
Experience in an Agile/Scrum setting
Nice to have: experience with vendor trading platforms and release/change processes (e.g. Fidessa, Horizon or similar); exposure to other asset classes (leveraged derivatives, listed commodities and/or fixed income) in a front-to-back context; experience in regulated environments with audit-ready decision-making; and strong ownership of delivery across roadmap, backlog quality and outcomes.
You have a talent for taking it on and making it happen, enjoy helping others succeed, and always stay a step ahead. You’re naturally collaborative, love to challenge the status quo and bring fresh ideas to life in a fast-changing, complex environment.
