Wiring Technician
Department: Production
Location: Lewisville, TX
Reports To: Team Lead
Overview
Moonshot Electronics is seeking detail-oriented Wiring Technicians to support the production of high-quality electrical control panels, junction boxes, and wiring assemblies. This hands-on role involves installing electrical components, routing and terminating wiring, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring finished products meet established quality and safety standards. Whether you're starting your career in electrical manufacturing or have extensive experience building and troubleshooting complex control panels, this position offers opportunities to expand your technical skills, solve challenging problems, and grow within our organization. We're looking for individuals who take pride in precision, embrace accountability, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative, results-driven team.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Wiring & Panel Assembly: Build and wire electrical control panels, junction boxes, harnesses, and related sub-assemblies according to approved drawings, wire lists, schematics, and work instructions. Install and connect components such as relays, circuit breakers, contactors, terminal blocks, power supplies, PLCs, and variable frequency drives based on experience and demonstrated proficiency.
Wire Preparation & Termination: Measure, cut, strip, crimp, route, and terminate electrical wiring according to specifications. Select appropriate tools, connectors, lugs, and crimp dies while ensuring proper wire identification, bend radius, strain relief, service loops, and neat wire management.
Technical Drawing Interpretation: Read and follow wire lists, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics to ensure accurate connections and component placement. Experienced technicians may interpret more complex ladder diagrams, one-line and three-line diagrams, metering circuits, CT/PT circuits, and electrical interlocks.
Quality Verification & Testing: Inspect completed wiring for accuracy, workmanship, and compliance with specifications. Use appropriate tools, including digital multimeters where qualified, to perform continuity checks, verify point-to-point connections, identify wiring errors, and complete required in-process quality documentation.
Troubleshooting & Technical Problem-Solving: Identify and communicate wiring discrepancies, incorrect components, drawing conflicts, and potential quality issues. Experienced technicians may troubleshoot complex electrical circuits, perform rework on failed assemblies, support root cause analysis, and collaborate with Engineering and Quality to resolve technical challenges.
Safety, Standards & Compliance: Follow established safety procedures, PPE requirements, ESD practices, and 6S workplace organization standards. Perform work in accordance with applicable NEC (NFPA 70), UL 508A, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 requirements as appropriate to assigned tasks and certification level.
Collaboration, Training & Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with Team Leads, Engineering, Quality, and fellow technicians to support production schedules and maintain high workmanship standards. Experienced technicians may mentor junior team members, provide technical guidance, assist with certification training, and perform independent workmanship inspections and approvals when formally authorized.
Continuous Improvement & Advanced Production Support: Identify opportunities to improve wiring processes, workstation organization, quality, and production efficiency. Advanced technicians may support first-article and non-standard builds, workstation and tooling setup, calibration management, and implementation of process improvements.
