A Day in the Life
As a Project Delivery Lead, you will help project managers deliver safe, profitable, high-quality environmental consulting projects while strengthening financial performance across an assigned portfolio. You will combine proactive oversight with practical coaching, helping project managers identify risks early, navigate challenges, and build their commercial and financial capabilities.
Reporting to the Vice President of Project Delivery Excellence for Environmental Consulting with a dotted line to the VP Ops Leader, you will partner with regional, operations, program, finance, and project controls leaders. This is a matrix leadership role: project managers retain their existing reporting relationships, while you provide delivery oversight, guidance, and mentoring. The focus is portfolio performance and project manager development, not performing technical project work. This role may be performed remotely within the United States.
The compensation range for this role is $125,000 to $175,000 , in addition to an annual bonus (12%), commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.
To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:
Portfolio Oversight and Performance
Oversee safe, efficient project delivery against scope, schedule, quality, risk, and financial commitments, with the goal of achieving or improving the financial performance established when projects are sold.
Lead regular portfolio reviews, typically monthly with each assigned project manager, to assess project health, identify emerging risks, and agree on corrective actions and follow-through.
Analyze project costs, billings, schedules, estimates at completion, and forecasts. Address root causes of performance issues to reduce write-offs, protect margins, and improve cash flow.
Partner with project managers and finance teams on timely invoicing, unbilled balances, accounts receivable, and collection strategies to improve Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
In coordination with the Operations or Program Manager, providing guidance in assigning projects and pursuit efforts to project managers.
Commercial Discipline and Risk Management
Review all client-facing cost estimates and proposal pricing within the assigned portfolio before submission. Check pricing guidance, applicable rate schedules, resource plans, and allowances for safety, quality reviews, project oversight, and other delivery requirements.
Understand applicable client contracts and help project managers translate commercial terms into delivery plans, budgets, and risk controls. Identify commercial risks and route exceptions through the appropriate approval process.
Support proactive scope and change management, including change orders, budget and schedule adjustments, stakeholder communication, and dispute resolution.
Help teams budget appropriate project review and oversight effort and recover that effort where permitted by the contract.
Coaching and Consistent Delivery
Serve as a practical resource for project managers facing client communication, team coordination, financial, or delivery challenges. Coach project managers and emerging project managers to strengthen judgment, accountability, and…
