About Origin
Origin (previously 10xConstruction) is building general-purpose autonomous robots for US construction to tackle rising costs, safety risks, and labour shortages. Our modular, multi-trade platform combines purpose-built hardware with real-time site intelligence to navigate complex environments and execute tasks with precision. Trained in high-fidelity simulation and already deployed on live sites, our robots deliver 5x faster execution, 250%+ margin expansion, and significant cost savings. Join India's most talent-dense robotics team consisting of individuals from IITs, Stanford, UCLA, etc.
About the role
Origin is moving from building robots one at a time to building them in batches. The parts of that system already exist: sourcing, stores, assembly, quality, logistics and deployment. They don't yet run as one machine. This role exists to make them one.
You will work directly with the Founder and own the build from release to US site: one build plan, one cost number per robot, and one weekly review everyone works from. You will also run the founder's manufacturing projects that don't yet have a home. This is not a coordination role. You're measured on robots shipped on time, at cost, without field failures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Build planning and operating cadence
Turn the deployment pipeline into a rolling 8-week build plan by robot, sub-assembly and tool system.
Run the weekly build reviews with Sourcing, Manufacturing, QA and Deployment teams; own the action log and close it.
Maintain a single build-readiness view: kits complete, parts short, drawings released, test status.
Work with Engineering, QA & manufacturing teams to set-up DFM, IQC, IPQA processes and create right Jigs & fixtures for QA & assembly.
2. Cost and unit economics
Own the cost-per-robot model from the BOM, labour hours, scrap and freight, and keep it current with every design release.
Build the cost-down roadmap with Sourcing and Engineering; track savings against target each month.
Model landed cost to US sites, including duties and freight, for founder and investor conversations.
3. Quality and field feedback
Set up the loop from US site failures back to design, sourcing and assembly, with root cause and a closed corrective action on each.
Track first-pass yield, rework hours and failures per deployed robot; take the top issues to the founder each week.
4. Scale-up and founder projects
Lead make-vs-buy and contract-manufacturing evaluations for the next robot versions.
Plan plant layout, line balancing and capacity for the next step up in volume.
Prepare manufacturing updates for board and investor material.
Required Qualifications and Skills
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Production, Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechatronics Engineering.
2–4 years in manufacturing, production planning, NPI or operations at a hardware, automotive, EV, EMS or industrial-equipment company, or in operations consulting with time on the shop floor.
Read engineering drawings, BOMs and tolerances; comfortable in a workshop.
Strong in spreadsheets and cost models; can build a cost-per-unit model from scratch.
Write clearly enough to send the founder a one-page decision memo and represent them with vendors and teams.
High ownership: closes loops, follows through and treats the build plan as their own.
Proficient with AI tools, Claude, Google Suite and Slack.
Preferred Experience
Low-volume, high-mix builds such as robotics, automation, EV, aerospace or medical devices.
Onshape or another PDM/PLM tool; ERP or inventory systems.
Lean, DFM/DFA, or a first-pass-yield improvement you can quantify.
Exposure to export documentation or shipping hardware to the US.
Hands-on build experience from a college robotics, Formula or Baja team.
Application Requirement
Share one example of a process, build or cost problem you fixed: what was broken, what you changed and the number that moved.
