This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing restaurant investment and operating platform as Controller, with broad accounting ownership, direct exposure to senior leadership, and the opportunity to help shape the accounting function. The position supports a large, multi-unit restaurant and franchise business with operations across the U.S., overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, external audits, internal controls, and team development.
We’re looking for a hands-on accounting leader with a strong public accounting or audit foundation who enjoys solving problems, developing people, and improving how a business operates. This role combines day-to-day accounting leadership with the opportunity to strengthen processes, improve reporting, and build consistency across an onshore and offshore accounting team. It offers meaningful responsibility for someone who wants to stay close to the details while influencing the broader direction of the function.
Beyond managing the close and audit, there is a strong emphasis on building practical processes that support a growing business. You’ll partner directly with leadership to improve financial visibility, establish clear accountability, and develop an accounting function that is accurate, well-controlled, and able to support continued expansion.
What this role will own:
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, overseeing general ledger accuracy, account reconciliations, journal entry review, and timely financial reporting
Manage external financial statement audits, serving as a primary contact for auditors and coordinating supporting schedules, documentation, requests, and resolution of accounting questions
Strengthen internal controls across revenue, cash, accounts payable, payroll, and other key accounting workflows, establishing clear approval processes and review responsibilities
Lead and develop onshore and offshore accounting resources, setting expectations for work quality, deadlines, communication, and follow-through
Establish and improve accounting policies, close procedures, and supporting documentation to create consistency and maintain audit readiness
Partner with senior leadership and operating teams to resolve accounting issues, improve reporting visibility, and provide reliable financial information for business decisions
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows, reduce manual work, and improve the efficiency of close, reporting, and audit preparation
Stay directly involved in complex reconciliations, accounting questions, and special projects while building the team’s capabilities and independence
Ideal background:
Progressive accounting experience with responsibility for financial reporting, month-end close, internal controls, and team leadership; relevant backgrounds may include Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager positions
Strong financial statement audit experience, ideally gained in public accounting, with the ability to manage an external audit from planning through completion
CPA strongly preferred
Experience in restaurant, hospitality, franchise, retail, or another multi-unit operating environment strongly preferred; public accounting experience auditing these businesses is also highly relevant
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and accounting controls
Experience supervising accounting professionals, reviewing work, and providing practical coaching; offshore or distributed team management experience is a plus
Comfortable balancing hands-on execution with process improvement and leadership in a lean, evolving organization
Sound professional judgment, integrity, clear communication, and a consistent approach to taking ownership of issues through resolution
