Who We Are
Prowess Consulting is a technology consultancy that helps some of the world’s largest technology enterprises define, manage, benchmark, and market their solutions and services. We invest the time to deeply understand our clients’ technologies, customers, and business objectives so we can help them develop the strategies and stories they need to succeed in the market. Our team of technology and marketing experts stays immersed in the trends shaping our clients’ businesses, enabling us to add value at every stage of an engagement. That same technology-first mindset applies internally: our people are highly technical and expect our systems to be fast, well designed, and secure by default. This role reports to the CISO and leads a small team, with the opportunity to shape and grow the function as business needs evolve. You will have end-to-end ownership of internal technology operations, including budgeting, vendor management, hiring, the platforms our teams rely on, and a defined set of security and compliance controls.
Who You Are
Prowess Consulting is hiring a dynamic and forward-thinking IT Manager to lead our internal technology operations.
To be considered for this role, you must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Washington.
This is a full-time role that can be worked remotely, however, collaboration with teammates centered in the Pacific time zone will be essential. No third-party agencies, please .
The Role and Responsibilities Leadership of the help desk function for a distributed workforce across two primary sites (Washington, USA and Ahmedabad, India) and remote workers around the world, including service expectations the business can hold us to.
Microsoft 365 administration: Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Intune, Purview and Defender.
Identity and access administration: on/offboarding, access changes, group and role design, privileged access controls.
Endpoint fleet: procurement, build standards, configuration, patching, recovery and disposal.
Vendors, contracts, licensing and assets: renewals, third-party risk review, and a clear picture of what we own and what it costs.
Business continuity for internal systems: backup, restore testing, documented recovery expectations.
Security operations: vulnerability monitoring and remediation, logging, and an incident response process you have rehearsed, not just written.
Projects and documentation: upgrades, improvement initiatives, and standards that let someone else run this without you.
What makes this role different
Technology delivered as a service . Internal requests are merging licensing needs with DevOps-style resource design and allocation. We are looking for someone who has experience of executing with that type of a platform-centric mindset. Infrastructure as code, version control and repeatable deployment as normal practice.
A safe, documented path for teams to run what they build, and a reasoned no when it does not fit.
Security and compliance as your own work . We hold ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certifications, work under HIPAA obligations, and handle data in scope for GDPR. Several of the controls behind those certifications live in internal technology, and this role owns them by name rather than supplying evidence for someone else to assemble. You must have fluency with at least one formal control framework, and the judgement to tell a control's intent from its paperwork.
You should be able to demonstrate identity-centered thinking: least privilege, scoped access, risk minimization.
Fluency with AI . Utilizing AI is a key part of Prowess' current strategy and a critical part of our trajectory. Internal technology must respond to this with appropriate control of access, permissions and acceptable use, and we expect this role…
