ABOUT OTC CORE
In the OTC Core Product Area, we work on functionality supporting over-the-counter financial instruments in SimCorp’s main product, SimCorp Dimension. Our work brings together financial contract modelling, functional programming, and C#/.NET development.
Most of our development work centres on financial contract models written in an internally developed domain-specific language embedded in OCaml. These models bring together business logic, database mapping, and user-interface layout in one place. Alongside implementing the models, we evolve the language itself and the supporting C#/.NET framework.
You do not need to arrive as an expert in OTC instruments or OCaml. What matters is curiosity about the problems, strong programming foundations, and a willingness to learn.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
As part of a cross-functional team working across locations, you will contribute from the first discussion of a feature through design, implementation, testing, and support.
You will:
Implement financial contract models in our OCaml-based domain-specific language, defining their business logic, database mapping, and user-interface layout.
Evolve the OCaml-based language and supporting C#/.NET framework, balancing new capabilities with improvements to existing code.
Use AI-assisted development tools - including Claude, GitHub Copilot, and our internally developed cloud agent - to explore solutions, develop code, and improve tests, applying your engineering judgment to validate the results.
Work with product management and fellow engineers to understand business needs and turn them into maintainable solutions.
Build automated tests and use code reviews to improve correctness, clarity, and maintainability.
Help make technical decisions, address technical debt, and share your experience with colleagues.
WHAT YOU BRING
We are primarily looking for a senior engineer who can work through complex problems, contribute to design decisions, and collaborate effectively with others.
We value:
Strong programming and software design skills, with experience in C#/.NET or functional programming.
The ability to understand an existing system and make thoughtful, well-tested changes.
Curiosity about functional programming, financial modelling, and the business problems behind the code.
A collaborative approach: asking questions, explaining your reasoning, and giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Clear communication in English and a willingness to keep learning.
Experience with OCaml or other functional languages (Haskell, Scala, F#, or similar), domain-specific languages, Web APIs, or financial software would be useful - but you do not need to bring all of it. A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience can provide a foundation; we are interested in what you can do and how you approach problems.
