Tabs is the AI Operating System for Revenue, built for modern finance and accounting teams. It combines deep revenue and accounting expertise with the agents and applications needed to run revenue work end to end. Tabs understands customer and contract context, applies accounting logic, and executes critical workflows with built in controls, auditability, and human oversight. With Tabs, finance teams can move from manually managing revenue workflows to directing outcomes while the system executes the work.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Accounting Solutions Architect sits as part of the Founder’s Office at Tabs, with close partnership between Product, Post-Sales (Implementation; Customer Success); and GTM (Marketing; Sales), reporting to Tabs’ Co-Founder. It is a senior individual contributor role with two mandates: serve as an accounting and audit expert in the company, and ensure customer needs are top-of-mind from sales to post-sales to product. You are the practitioner's advocate inside Tabs and the face of Tabs to the profession outside it.
This is not a traditional solutions engineering role, a support role, or a product manager role, though it touches all three. You will not carry a quota, own a backlog, or run tickets. You will shape what gets built by understanding, better than anyone, how accounting systems work and ensuring the product and implementation of that product serves the customer’s needs.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Be the subject matter expert on accounting and the finance tech stack
- Own the technical accounting point of view inside Tabs: ASC 606 revenue recognition, performance obligations and SSP allocation, contract modifications, variable consideration, usage and consumption billing, deferred revenue, multi-element arrangements, and the audit trail behind all of it.
- Review product designs, data models, and integration specs for correct accounting policy application, and advise product and engineering on tradeoffs and recommendations
- Write and maintain the internal reference for how Tabs handles accounting: the "why" behind rev rec logic, SSP policies, journal entry mappings and month-end close workflows
- Train the go-to-market and post-sales teams on accounting concepts and on how to communicate with a controller.
Be the voice of the customer across the full journey
- Pre-sales: join calls with prospects' finance leaders, in close partnership with our existing solutions consultants, to understand how they bill, recognize revenue, and close today, validate that Tabs fits, and flag early where it does not.
- Implementation: sit alongside the implementation team on complex accounts. Help translate a customer's contract structures, rev rec policy, and chart of accounts into a Tabs configuration that their auditors will accept.
- Post-sale, the part that matters most: build standing relationships with the controllers and accountants who use Tabs every day. Run regular customer conversations, office hours, and account reviews focused on whether the product is working for them, not on renewal.
- Turn what you hear into structured, prioritized feedback for product managers: what customers are working around, what they do not trust, what they are doing in spreadsheets because the product does not do it yet. Bring evidence, not anecdotes.
- Partner with product managers on discovery and on acceptance criteria for finance-facing features. Be the first user of anything that touches the close.
Be the spokesperson for the profession
- Represent the CPA and controller inside Tabs. When a trade-off is being made, make sure the end user's reality is on the table.
- Represent Tabs to the profession: speak at and attend industry events, contribute to content and webinars, engage with the accounting community, and build credibility with the auditors and fractional CFO firms our customers rely on.
- Keep current on standard-setting, regulatory changes, and shifts in how finance teams work, and bring that back into the roadmap.
