An exceptional opportunity for a senior Cleared Infrastructure Engineer to shape the future of Defence & Government in Seattle.
Defence and government technology teams are under pressure to modernise faster than ever, and most of them are doing it with a fraction of the headcount a prime contractor would throw at the problem.
This particular team is a lean, fast-moving startup building infrastructure that supports cleared government workloads.
A Cleared Infrastructure Engineer here won't be a cog in a huge programme.
You'll be one of the people actually building the thing.
Here's what you'll be doing: Design, build and maintain secure infrastructure for cleared environments, balancing speed with the controls that government work demands Manage cloud and on-premise systems supporting classified and sensitive workloads across the Defence & Government portfolio Automate deployment pipelines and infrastructure provisioning, reducing manual steps and manual errors in equal measure Work directly with security teams to keep systems compliant with relevant government frameworks (RMF, NIST 800-53, and similar) Troubleshoot production issues under time pressure, often without the luxury of a large support bench behind you Document system architecture and access controls clearly enough that someone else could pick up where you left off Here are the skills you'll need: An active security clearance, or clearability, is essential for this role Several years' experience as an infrastructure, platform or systems engineer, ideally within Defence & Government or another regulated sector Strong working knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or similar) and infrastructure-as-code tooling Comfort with Linux systems administration, networking fundamentals and scripting (Python or Bash) The ability to work independently and make sound calls without waiting for sign-off on every decision Clear communication skills.
You'll need to explain technical trade-offs to people who aren't engineers Key perks and benefits: Salary of $69,500 to $89,000, reflecting the seniority and clearance requirements of the role Equity in a growing company, so your work builds value you actually hold a stake in Hybrid working based in Seattle, with flexible hours built around how you work best A genuine learning and development budget, not a token gesture A flat structure where you'll wear multiple hats and see your decisions take effect quickly Why pursue a career in Defence & Government?
Government spending on secure infrastructure isn't slowing down, and cleared engineers remain in short supply relative to demand.
Seattle has become a genuine hub for this kind of work, with a growing cluster of startups and primes competing for the same small pool of talent.
Progression in this field tends to be fast for people who deliver, because there simply aren't enough cleared engineers to go round.
This Cleared Infrastructure Engineer opportunity is brought to you by The Opportunity Hub UK.
