Step into this Cloud Infrastructure Security Engineer role and build something that matters in Cybersecurity.
Cloud attack surfaces have grown faster than most security teams can monitor them, and the businesses getting it right are the ones hiring properly into the gap.
This role sits inside an established cybersecurity SME in Sheffield, one that's grown steadily rather than chasing headcount for its own sake.
You'd be joining a team that treats cloud security as a discipline, not an afterthought bolted onto DevOps.
Here's what you'll be doing: Design and maintain secure cloud architecture across AWS and/or Azure environments, with security built in from the start rather than retrofitted Run vulnerability assessments and penetration testing cycles against cloud infrastructure, then track remediation through to close Build and tune detection rules, alerts and monitoring dashboards so threats get caught early, not three weeks later in a post-mortem Automate security controls using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, embedding policy checks directly into deployment pipelines Lead incident response for cloud security events, from initial triage through to root cause and write-up Work alongside engineering and compliance teams to keep infrastructure aligned with ISO 27001, SOC 2 or equivalent frameworks Here are the skills you'll need: Solid hands-on experience securing AWS, Azure or GCP environments in a production setting Working knowledge of IAM, network segmentation, encryption standards and container security (Docker, Kubernetes) Comfort scripting in Python or similar, enough to automate checks rather than do them by hand every time A relevant certification such as AWS Security Specialty, CCSP or CISSP, or clear momentum toward one Good written communication.
You'll need to explain a vulnerability to an engineer and to a non-technical stakeholder, in different language for each A methodical streak.
Cloud security rewards people who check their own work twice before an attacker checks it for them Key perks and benefits: £51,000 to £65,000, plus a bonus scheme tied to performance Hybrid working, with the balance between home and the Sheffield office left sensible rather than rigid Private medical insurance and a solid pension contribution Structured annual leave with flexible working built around it, not just promised in the handbook Genuine professional development support, including funded certifications where they align with your path Why pursue a career in Cybersecurity?
Demand for cloud security specialists keeps climbing and shows no sign of levelling off.
Sheffield has quietly built a strong cluster of security and tech employers, so a Cloud Infrastructure Security Engineer based here isn't short of a serious career runway without needing to relocate south.
Few fields reward sharp, careful people as consistently as cybersecurity does, and few roles put you closer to the sharp end of it than this one.
