Join a startup Cybersecurity company as a Cloud Platform Security Engineer in Reading.
Cloud breaches rarely come from a single mistake.
They come from misconfigured permissions, forgotten assets, and security teams stretched too thin to watch everything at once.
This startup builds tools that close that gap, and it's looking for a Cloud Platform Security Engineer to help customers lock down their AWS, Azure and GCP environments before attackers find the gaps first.
Reading has quietly become a serious base for cybersecurity talent, and this is a chance to shape a product at the stage where your decisions still carry real weight.
Here's what you'll be doing: Design and implement security controls across multi-cloud environments, covering identity, network segmentation and data protection Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code templates that bake security in from the start rather than bolting it on afterwards Investigate alerts from cloud security tooling, triage genuine threats, and close out false positives fast Partner with engineering teams to review architecture decisions and flag risk before it reaches production Automate detection and response workflows so the team catches issues in minutes, not days Own compliance mapping against frameworks like SOC 2 and ISO 27001 as the product scales Here are the skills you'll need: Solid hands-on experience securing at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP), ideally more than one Working knowledge of IAM, VPC design, encryption standards and container security Comfort with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation Scripting ability in Python or Go for automation and tooling work A calm head under pressure.
Incidents don't wait for a convenient time Clear communication skills.
You'll need to explain risk to engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike Key perks and benefits: £59,500 to £73,000, depending on experience Equity in a growing company, so you share in what you help build Hybrid working from the Reading office, with flexible hours around it Learning and development budget for certifications and conferences A flat structure where your ideas reach decision-makers directly, not through five layers of management Why pursue a career in Cybersecurity?
Demand for cloud security specialists keeps climbing as more infrastructure shifts off-premise, and skilled people move quickly into senior and leadership roles.
Reading sits in one of the UK's densest tech corridors, giving cybersecurity professionals a strong local network alongside the usual remote opportunities.
Few fields reward sharp, careful thinking as directly as this one does.
