Step into this ML Platform Engineer role and build something that matters in AI & Technology.
AI teams are only as good as the infrastructure underneath them, and that infrastructure is where most AI & Technology firms quietly fall apart.
This SME, established but still growing, has built a reputation for solid engineering rather than hype.
It needs someone who can keep its machine learning systems running cleanly as the team and the workload both scale.
Here's what you'll be doing: Build and maintain the infrastructure that takes models from a data scientist's notebook into live production systems Design CI/CD pipelines specifically for ML workflows, covering training, versioning and deployment Monitor model performance in production and flag drift before it becomes a problem Work closely with data scientists to understand what they need, then build it so they don't have to think about infrastructure again Manage compute resources and cloud costs across training and inference workloads Troubleshoot pipeline failures and performance bottlenecks, often under time pressure Here are the skills you'll need: Solid experience with Python and at least one major ML framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow) Hands-on knowledge of containerisation and orchestration, Docker and Kubernetes specifically Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools A working understanding of MLOps practices: model versioning, experiment tracking, automated retraining Good judgement under ambiguity.
Mid-level means you'll be trusted to make calls, not just follow instructions Clear communication.
You'll need to explain technical trade-offs to people who don't live in your codebase Key perks and benefits: £47,000 to £68,000, depending on experience Fully remote working, with the flexibility that brings Private medical insurance and pension contribution Annual leave that supports actual work-life balance, not just a policy on paper Genuine professional development opportunities as the company grows Why pursue a career in AI & Technology?
AI & Technology isn't slowing down, and platform engineers sit at the centre of it.
Aberdeen has a growing pocket of serious technical talent, and remote-first roles like this one mean you don't need to live in London to do work that matters.
Good ML Platform Engineers are hard to find and even harder to keep, which tends to show up in how they're paid and how far they progress.
This ML Platform Engineer opportunity is brought to you by The Opportunity Hub UK.
