Physician
About the Role
Are you a physician looking for a primary care role where your work directly improves health equity in a community that needs you? Thundermist Health Center is looking for Physicians to join our team across Rhode Island. You’ll manage your own patient panel, deliver comprehensive primary care, and practice as an autonomous, licensed provider within a team-based, integrated care model. Inpatient hospital care is available but optional — based on your interest, credentialing, and partner hospital availability. Thundermist is a multi-site FQHC serving over 65,000 patients, and we deliver care regardless of insurance status, immigration status, or ability to pay.
What You’ll Do
Clinical Care
Provide complete management of primary medical care for an assigned patient panel, including scheduled visits, acute care, chronic disease management, and preventive care
Review, document, and manage medical records; order, interpret, and follow up on labs, imaging, and diagnostic testing
Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, within scope of practice
Coordinate referred services including specialty care, pharmacy, laboratory, and ancillary services
Provide after-hours call and coverage for Thundermist and community-based patients as scheduled
Provide inpatient hospital services and attending responsibilities as assigned (optional, based on interest and credentialing)
Precept physician residents, nurse practitioners, or medical students as assigned
Administrative
Participate in departmental, team, and full staff meetings to review and develop policies, procedures, health care plans, clinical goals, and objectives
Maintain compliance with credentialing, re-credentialing, and privileging requirements
Complete clinical documentation in the EHR accurately and within established timeframes
