ABOUT TRAVERSAL
Traversal https://www.traversal.com/?utm_source=chatgpt.com is the AI Site Reliability Engineer (AI SRE) for the enterprise.
Production complexity was already outpacing what engineering teams could manage manually, and AI-generated code is accelerating that gap. Traversal is built for that challenge, autonomously understanding and reasoning across even the largest, most complex production environments to diagnose, fix, and prevent incidents. Our mission is to free engineers from endless firefighting and give them more time to focus on creative, high-impact work.
Today, Traversal operates in mission-critical environments at some of the world’s largest enterprises, including PepsiCo, Nubank, Harvey, and DigitalOcean. Our roots remain deeply embedded in AI research, and we’ve brought together researchers from institutions including MIT, Harvard, Berkeley, Columbia, and Cornell with world-class technical staff and operators from companies like Google, Meta, Datadog, ServiceNow, and Citadel Securities to take on one of the hardest problems for AI to solve. Traversal is backed by Sequoia Capital, Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures, and Khosla Ventures.
THE ROLE
Traversal is building a superintelligent AI SRE: always-on AI employees, used daily by hundreds of engineers at the world's largest companies during their highest-pressure moments. At the core are the agents and AI capabilities our engineering and research teams build. As a Product Manager at Traversal, you'll build the product on top of them: how the agent behaves, what it does, how it communicates, when it should act, and the user interfaces / product experiences built around it.
On-call engineers and SREs use the Traversal agent to troubleshoot production incidents, work through alert channels, and answer the everyday questions that come with keeping systems running, and adoption and usage have grown explosively. The agent lives in a web app and across headless surfaces: agents in Slack and Microsoft Teams, an MCP that works with coding agents like Claude Code and Cursor, and an API engineers build workflows around. You'll bring the same craft to all of them, from pixel-level detail in the UI to tone, clarity, and evals in Slack, and you'll know which surface fits which problem.
Our product team is small but mighty: just a few PMs, each with high agency and a real hand in shaping how the function works. You'll help set the roadmap and the way we work as the company scales through rapid growth. If you use AI agents compulsively, have strong opinions about what makes them great, and want to build AI-native products engineers love so much they turn to them first, we'd love to meet you.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner closely with customers, engineers, and AI researchers to define product strategy and roadmap, leading discovery with SREs, platform engineers, and incident responders at some of the world's largest enterprises
- Build the product layer on top of the core AI agents our research and engineering teams build, thinking holistically across the web app and headless surfaces (Slack, Microsoft Teams, MCP, and API, where the user is often another agent).
- Sweat the details of the agent's prompts: iterate on multiple versions of prompts and harnesses, run evals to see which output is better, and tell a good output from a great one
- Own the features that make the product enterprise-ready, like fine-grained access control and RBAC
- Prototype ideas yourself, and bring a prototype, not just a PRD, to product reviews
- Sequence rollouts: find the MVP: the smallest feature set that tests a hypothesis, shipped on the most minimal surface (headless, Slack, or UI), tested with beta users, then expanded over time
- Work with forward-deployed engineers during customer POVs to turn gaps into shipped features, fast
- Bring in ideas from across the agent ecosystem and anticipate where agents are going next
- Shape the product function: roadmap, process, and how product…
