The Role - Staff Product Manager, Digital Match Capture
The Genius Sports Product Team is looking for an exceptional Staff Product Manager to lead our digital match capture products. As part of the Data & AI product team, you will work with leading global sporting leagues (e.g., NBA, EPL, NFL, and others) to build, enhance, and maintain the products that capture, process, and deliver tracking data to teams, leagues, and external developers around the world.
You will own positional tracking for both first-party and third-party use-cases across the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and discovery through build, launch, and ongoing growth and improvement. You will identify opportunities to lead the market, improve positional tracking, and determine the best ways to use match capture to deliver value to the Genius Sports product portfolio and its customers. Positional tracking forms the bedrock of Genius tracking-derived products, including performance, officiating, automated data collection, media visualizations, and emerging digital recreation use-cases.
You will also help shape what comes next in match capture. The lines between positional tracking, computer vision, digital twins, and 3D capture are blurring quickly, and you will explore where they meet: running prototypes and early deployments with our engineers and partners, learning what works, and bringing the most promising ideas into the core match capture platform.
The ideal candidate is seasoned at delivering modern, data-driven B2B SaaS products, is comfortable owning a product used both as a customer-facing offering and as a platform for the broader Genius portfolio, and can move fluidly between deep technical/data conversations and strategic, executive-level discussions. You will define and evangelize a clear product roadmap, manage cross-functional stakeholders, and drive measurable outcomes using both qualitative and quantitative data.
What You Will Own:
As the Staff Product Manager, Digital Match Capture, you will be responsible for digital match capture spanning first-party and third-party use-cases:
First-Party Positional Tracking — Tracking products that power the Genius Sports portfolio, including performance, officiating, automated data collection, media visualizations, and digital recreation inputs.
Third-Party Positional Tracking — Tracking products and capabilities delivered to teams, leagues, and external developers.
Positional Tracking Improvement & Market Leadership — A roadmap of continual improvements to tracking quality, coverage, and capability, including opportunities to lead the market.
Next-Generation Match Capture Exploration — Discovery and validation of emerging capture capabilities that blend positional tracking, computer vision, digital twins, 3D capture, and real-time systems.
Portfolio Value — Identifying and delivering the highest-value ways for digital match capture to serve Genius Sports products and customers.
Job Responsibilities:
Build, Maintain, and Grow Genius Digital Match Capture
Operate as a platform product manager: balance first-party and third-party requirements, treat application product managers as customers, and define well-defined interfaces that enable both without fragmenting the platform.
Understand customer needs across teams, leagues, external developers, and internal application teams; develop requirements and drive delivery of positional tracking for both first-party and third-party use-cases.
Own the product lifecycle end-to-end — from ideation, discovery, and validation through build, launch, and post- launch growth and iteration — including both live-operations quality and reliability and net-new capability.
Define and evangelize a clear, prioritized product roadmap for digital match capture, and communicate it consistently to internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with computer vision, systems, and data platform engineers, downstream product managers, match and venue operations, design, and business teams to ensure digital match capture initiatives are delivered on time and on budget.
Explore next-generation capture opportunities that could improve tracking quality, coverage, automation, or downstream recreation use-cases, using evidence from prototypes, early deployments, and customer feedback to decide what to scale and what to stop.
Provide strategic direction on data-informed, long-term investment opportunities for digital match capture, evaluating tradeoffs and prioritizing in consultation with cross-divisional partners.
Balance investment across digital match capture across three horizons — Now/Horizon 1 (0-12 months), Next/Horizon 2 (12-36 months), and Future/Horizon 3 (36+ months) — ensuring a healthy mix of incremental improvement and longer-term innovation.
Define KPIs that drive business results for digital match capture, build dashboards to measure performance, and make data-driven decisions using both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Partner with commercial, marketing, and operations teams to support go-to market motions with product expertise, and continuously gather feedback from teams, leagues, external developers, and application product managers and translate it into product requirements.
Mentor less experienced product managers and raise the quality of product practice around you.
Stay current on computer vision tracking technology, real-time data platforms, next-generation capture techniques, and competitor offerings to keep Genius digital match capture at the forefront of the industry.
Position Requirements:
6-12 years of relevant product management experience.
Experience leading a complex product or platform with significant business, customer, or operational impact — shaping strategy, driving discovery, and aligning stakeholders across teams.
Product management experience building B2B SaaS, platform, or data products: understanding functional requirements and building for scale, including balancing first-party and third-party (or multiple-customer) needs through well-defined interfaces.
Strong grasp of product lifecycle mechanics: discovery, analysis, defining and driving OKRs, ideation, prioritization, and delivering measurable outcomes.
Experience leading complex cross-functional programs with engineering, operations, and downstream product partners; able to influence without authority and treat application teams as customers.
Technical fluency sufficient to work with computer vision, systems, and data platform engineers on real-time products; comfort moving between deep technical conversations and product/commercial tradeoffs.
Ability to create clarity in technically ambiguous spaces, especially where positional tracking, 3D capture, digital twins, and real-time systems begin to overlap.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including experience aligning stakeholders, presenting to leadership, and supporting commercial conversations with product expertise.
Experience working in and delivering products or services in an agile/lean environment, including backlog management (user stories, epics, and bugs).
Proficiency in gathering and transforming product requirements into a practical, prioritized product roadmap.
Track record of mentoring less experienced product managers, or otherwise raising the quality of product practice around you.
Domain experience in sports, computer vision, real-time systems, developer/platform products, 3D capture, or digital twins is a plus; familiarity with WebGPU, Unity, Unreal, or comparable engines/runtimes is a plus.
Degree or equivalent relevant experience required.
