The Role & Key Responsibilities
Job Title: E-Commerce DTC Manager – Fixed Term Contract
Location: Homebased - UK ( Occasional travel to Monmouth, Peterborough and other business locations)
Contract type: 12 month contract
Package includes: Salary from £46,000, plus pension contributions matched up to 10% and access to flexible benefits that support your development, wellbeing and everyday life.
Do you enjoy making e-commerce websites perform better? Can you turn customer behaviour and data into changes that improve conversion and sales?
Do you have hands-on Shopify Admin experience? Perhaps you’re already working in a similar in-house role, or you’re working with Shopify in an agency and looking for the opportunity to take ownership of brands from the inside. We’re looking for a D2C Manager to join us on a fixed-term maternity cover contract for up to 12 months.
Supporting three brands across four websites in the UK and Europe, you’ll work across Shopify plans ranging from Grow to Plus, alongside a range of integrated apps and platforms.
This is a hands-on Shopify role. You’ll be the first point of contact for day-to-day front-end and back-end configuration, troubleshooting, updates and optimisation. While you’ll have developer support for more technical requirements, we’re looking for someone who is confident getting into Shopify Admin, investigating issues and making changes themselves.
What you'll be doing:
Managing Shopify day to day – making front-end updates and back-end configuration changes across our stores.
Supporting promotions and seasonal activity – updating website assets, managing products on and off promotion, configuring discounts and free-gift mechanics, updating subscriptions and making product or data changes where required.
Managing our Shopify app ecosystem – troubleshooting issues and supporting the installation, configuration and ongoing management of new and existing apps.
Using data to support commercial decisions – identifying opportunities within Shopify data and helping to influence short-term promotional, merchandising and sales activity.
Reporting and performance analysis – producing weekly and monthly reporting and using performance data to identify trends and opportunities.
Supporting website optimisation – using Shopify alongside platforms such as SEMrush and Similarweb to identify opportunities to improve SEO visibility, accessibility, usability and the customer journey.
Working across teams and suppliers – collaborating with Marketing, Commercial and external development partners to make sure D2C requirements are delivered effectively.
Some of the projects you could work on
Alongside the day-to-day management of our Shopify stores, there are some significant projects planned over the next 12 months, including:
Re-skinning a brand website to improve its design, site flow, customer journey, search and filtering.
Exploring opportunities to expand our use of Shopify B2B.
Supporting the installation, configuration and roll-out of a new customer loyalty programme.
Continuing to develop and optimise our international Shopify presence across European markets.
What you'll bring:
Above all, we’re looking for someone with genuine hands-on Shopify Admin experience. You’ll be comfortable working directly within Shopify rather than solely briefing agencies or developers.
You should be confident navigating the platform, making changes, investigating problems and understanding how different areas of a Shopify store work together.
Experience in some of the following would be particularly useful:
Hands-on Shopify Admin experience within an in-house, agency or freelance environment.
Managing products, collections, navigation, discounts, promotions and website content.
Installing, configuring or troubleshooting Shopify apps.
Working with Shopify reporting and using data to identify commercial opportunities.
Understanding of e-commerce customer journeys, CRO, SEO and website usability.
Experience of Shopify Markets, international stores or Shopify Plus.
Experience with subscriptions, loyalty programmes or Shopify B2B.
Working with external developers or agencies and knowing when an issue needs technical escalation.
You don’t need to be a developer. What matters is that you’re comfortable getting into the platform, figuring things out and taking ownership, while knowing when specialist development support is needed.
If you know your way around Shopify Admin and enjoy combining hands-on website management with commercial thinking, data and continuous improvement, we’d love to hear from you.
This is a fixed-term maternity-cover role at an important point in the development of our digital capability. Further opportunities may arise within the business, although these cannot be guaranteed.
