Position Purpose
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Technician assists in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health & Safety programs for the facility. This position helps maintain a safe work environment while ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
This role works closely with production, welding and fabrication, maintenance, and management teams to identify hazards, reduce risk, investigate incidents, and promote a proactive culture of safety throughout the facility. The position requires a hands-on presence on the manufacturing floor and regular interaction with team members and contractors.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities
Conduct facility studies, environmental surveys, and monitoring programs to evaluate air, water, soil, and ecosystem conditions.
Investigate environmental incidents, issues, and concerns to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
Develop, implement, and maintain environmental policies, procedures, and protection programs that support regulatory compliance and organizational objectives.
Prepare environmental impact assessments, audits, technical reports, and regulatory documentation to support informed decision-making.
Design and deliver environmental training and awareness programs that promote compliance, sustainability, and best practices across the organization.
Manage waste management programs, pollution prevention initiatives, and sustainable resource utilization strategies.
Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, community representatives, stakeholders, and internal business partners to maintain transparency and positive working relationships.
Lead environmental permitting, compliance, monitoring, and reporting activities to ensure adherence to applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Develop and manage environmental risk assessment and mitigation programs to minimize operational and environmental impacts.
Monitor, analyse, and report environmental performance metrics while driving continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.
Provide strategic environmental leadership across, business units, or projects, ensuring alignment with corporate sustainability goals, environmental standards, and long-term business objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Sciences, or a closely related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing environmental compliance programs within industrial, manufacturing, recycling, or similar regulated facilities.
Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and compliance obligations.
Strong communication, strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively interface and negotiate with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.
Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental management systems and compliance programs, including field inspections, audits, and regulatory reporting.
Working knowledge and practical experience with stormwater management, hazardous materials, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, wastewater compliance, and aboveground petroleum storage tank regulations.
Proficiency in electronic environmental reporting systems, data management platforms, and compliance tracking tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, Biology, Geology, or related fields
HAZWOPER, ISO 14001, CHMM, CSP, CPR, or other relevant environmental and safety certifications
Experience in the metal recycling, scrap processing, steel, manufacturing, or related industrial sectors is preferred.
Experience implementing or maintaining ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems is preferred.
Bilingual English/ Spanish is preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare complex reports, correspondence, memoranda, presentations, and deliver clear information to diverse audiences.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams to achieve organizational objectives.
Strong attention to detail in conducting inspections, audits, monitoring activities, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Ability to identify unsanitary conditions, recognize potential public health and safety risks, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Ability to collect, analyse, interpret, and evaluate technical and environmental data to develop recommendations, policies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ability to interpret and communicate findings from complex technical reports, regulations, and compliance documentation.
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with government agencies, regulatory officials, community representatives, business partners, and internal stakeholders.
