How to find the jobs that never reach LinkedIn
Companies post to their own board first, and syndicate later if at all.
A job site is a copy of a job, not the job. The posting starts on the company's own careers page, run by whichever hiring system they bought, and only some of them ever get syndicated onward.
That gap is where the quiet openings live. Reading company boards directly is not a trick, it is going to the source.
The short answer
- 1Find the company's board, not its listing. Most sit on a predictable address you can guess.
- 2Read the whole board, not the one role. The neighbouring titles tell you what the team is building.
- 3Check it again before you apply. A live link is not the same as an open role.
Where each system puts the board
Four systems hold most of what we watch. Each keeps its boards at a fixed address, so once you know the company slug you can go straight there.
| System | Board address | Publishes pay |
|---|---|---|
| Greenhouse | job-boards.greenhouse.io/slug | Sometimes |
| Ashby | jobs.ashbyhq.com/slug | Usually |
| Lever | jobs.lever.co/slug | Rarely |
| Workable | apply.workable.com/slug | Rarely |
The slug is almost always the company name, lowercased, with spaces removed. Try it before you search for it.
Read the board, not the posting
A single posting tells you a team is hiring. The board tells you what kind of company you are about to join. Six open engineering roles and no design role says something. A board that has carried the same posting for four months says something else.
